Research is the process of locating, organizing, and utilizing information
on a particular topic and for a specific purpose. This website will
provide the answers to questions like:
This website is divided into two components: a student
webpage and a teacher site. The student component provides a path
that will lead to a successful research project, while the teacher
component develops an effective standards-based research assignment.
The
HCPS emphasize critical thinking, communication and ethical use of
information and technology. These elements are all a part of the research
process. An important component in a research-based project is writing.
Whether the product is a paper, video, or powerpoint presentation,
the script is the essential glue. Another key factor in doing a research-based
project is to give credit where credit is due. A courteous, honest
person asks permission whenever necessary and does not masquerade
the words of others as his or hers.
Links
were provided to enrich the information on this website as well as
give examples of various components of the research process. There
are also functional links in which the students can actually generate
a bibliography, download forms such as the pathfinder to guide their
search, and learn more about research terms. These links can prove
invaluable in completing research projects.
When
you see Mr. Lite Bulb, this tells you that this link is too good to
miss.
